Hi all,

I just bought a Promise FastTrak100 controller.
I'm not sure if I should disable my onboard IDE controllers, and use only the Promise, or just add the Promise to my current setup.
Since I only have one HD that's ATA100 (the rest are UDMA33), the slower HD's won't benefit from the Promise controller.
Here's my setup:

Abit BH6 (1st revision, BIOS rev. SS), PIII450, 384 MB RAM, Quantum 6.4 GB HD (UDMA33), WD 10.2 GB HD (UDMA33), Maxtor 10.2 GB HD (ATA100), LG x48 CD ROM, etc.

So, what's the better option? Using the Promise as the sole IDE controller, or as an additional one?
TIA,
-E.-

Use both the promise and onboard controllers. This will give you 4 channels, one for each ide device. 2 devices sharing one channel will obviously share the bandwidth and slow down data transfer.
