I'm having issues attempting to use the onboard promise fasttrak 100-lite raid controller of my ECS L7VTA.
I'm attempting to run two drives (60 & 80GB) in a non-raid, standard ata100 setup. The drives are detected fine and show up in windows fine, but I'm getting write errors occasionally and general system pauses and stuttering due to this setup.
I just swapped out my old motherboard (asus a7v133) for this board. The asus promise raid was much better (it even supported optical drives in ata100 mode).
Will the fasttrak 100-lite just not work like this? The manual says Disk Array Features -- "The HDD connects to the Slave channel of PROMISE ATA RAID is to be as ATA HDD." That seems to indicate that I can at least hook up one drive alone (and I have a friend that has a board with the same controller and has one drive hooked up fine).
Can I not hook up two drives? I've tried hooking the drives up as either both masters or both slaves, but this had no effect. I'd rather not put both on the same channel if I don't have to.
edit: just had the single 80gb drive hooked up on primary master and it was doing the same thing
Dunno what's wrong with it, the drive works fine on a normal IDE channel.
