I have a Quantum LM hard disk hooked up to the Promise PCI ATA66 controller card. How far out of spec can I run this thing? Is 37Mhz unreasonable. I have an Abit BX6 2.0/Celeron 566@850. This of course is at the 100Mhz FSB with PCI and AGP dividers at 1/3 and 2/3, respectfully. The next setting is 112Mhz (at 1/4 PCI), which would run the PCI bus at 37Mhz. Cooling is good, under load the hottest it gets is 34C(29C at idle).

The rest of the hardware is as follows:
Soundblaster Live
Hercules 3D Prophet MX 2
D-Link NIC (hmmm...how do NICs handle being run out of spec?)

Thanks for any help

Ive got my Ultra66 card on a 366 clocked to 550 system. Never had a problem with it. If you dont have a problem, then whats the problem????

I haven't oc'd it yet. 112 at 37.5 just happens to be my next setting. Given that I'll probably have to reinstall everything if something goes wrong with the controller and/or HD, I figured I'd check to see if anyone else was running these things out of spec. I'll give it a shot then, what the hell.

Does your Ultra66 card have the clock generator on it (silver box thing in the middle)? If it does, then you don't have to worry about odd PCI bus speeds.

The D-Link NICs run great at high FSBs. I've had mine at 40MHz without problems hosting a LAN game of Counter-Strike with about 8 people. Just don't use Linksys NICs at high FSBs. I've had them crap out at even 35MHz.

I just found a reference to that in some older threads. I will find out later when I get home to see if it has that component. And thanks for the reply on the NIC. Things are looking good for a 566@950.
