Yep, the most interesting thread so far.

When you talk to your boss be firm. Try to compromise.

But remember if he is an @ss about this, your job is not secure anyway - he may find an excuse to fire you in the future 'cause you are 'weak'.

How difficult is it to find another job in your area? The union may support you since it is only "one strike" if you are dismissed.

Give us more details . . . how long in advance did you ask for the day off? ANY other 'strikes'?

dude, that union thing around here kicks major butt. if you get fired for something stupid like taking the day off for prom, you'll get rehired in a jiffy.

that is really stupid if he does fire you. if he does, im sure youre still young and can find another job.

in fact, if he even says something like "well im going to have to let.." jump in and just say , you know what I QUIT, you cant fire me CUZ I QUIT!

i hope youre able to go to your prom. i never went to mine, but i know its hella fun.

enjoy it!

Don't quit - you'd lose your unemployment benefits and any help your union'd give you.

Let us know how it comes out.

I think "Jimmy" lured him to the store with the threat of being fired and poor Mrfrog840 is now hogtied in the back room wearing a gimp mask :Q
