Anyone care to take the time to explain to me why home projectors cost so much to replace their bulbs? Are they not just custom tailored halogen bulbs, nothing fansy? Whats so great about them that merits $200-400 a peice? Why not use an array of super bright LEDs, rise the inital cost, but have an unlimited life?

LEDs can't do the job. Period.

Secondly, depending on the projector technology, the bulb units these days have special mounting units attached and circuitry managing the bulb.
