Projector Lamps

Are there any disadvantages going with a 400 watt lamp besides the brightness of a 600 watt. Obviously heat is an issue on the lcd. Should I just stick with a 400 watt?

I wouldn't use a lamp that your projector isn't rated for. It could be a fire hazard. Beyond that, as long as you can deal with the heat on the LCD, a brighter lamp should give better luminance and possibly improve your contrast ratio.

How much did it run you?

I bought a bulb a while back and it was around 600 dollars or more if i remember right

Tell us about how it goes! What components you use, how much everything costs, etc. I am thinking of doing it too but I'm not sure yet. Thanks for being our guinea pig!!

It will be quite a long process. As this is going to be all new to me as well. Depending on overall cost (not yet determined) this project could fall through (crossing fingers that it doesn')
