I have 2 Epson EMP 822H LCD projectors that I've been very happy with, after an initial foray into DLP projectors that left a LOT to be desired. I bought both of the LCD projectors used, (1 for $90 and the other for $50) and have gotten a decent amount of life out of them. However, the one I use most often appears that the bulb is finally going out since it has become very dim. (image still sharp, but dim)

I've never bought a replacement bulb/housing before, and I'm seeing prices all over the place. I'm hoping someone can chip in with their experience.

Is it worth buying the more expensive replacement bulbs? How can
we know what is dependable? I'm a rather frugal fellow, as you can probably see from the fact that I only paid 50 bucks for my last "big screen", so I'd rather not overpay, but I don't want to end up with a dim bulb
that only lasts 2 months, either.

Thanks for input from anyone with experience!

I recommend that you stay with Epson bulbs. I went the cheap route with my old mitsubishi projector, and it cost me dearly. The bulb burst after less than 100 hours, and broke the projector. I got 5000 hours on the 2 OEM bulbs I had before I took the cheap route.
