I have a huge leak to report on for all of you involving Blizzard's new IP, known only as Project Titan. Understandably, the information we've got on it right now is both scant and suspect. Until Blizzard decides to verify everything at the upcoming 2013 Blizzcon, we'll have to take it all with a grain of salt.

If the rumor is to be believed, TItan will be based on Earth's history, with a large amount of fiction sprinkled in. It'll feature a deep backstory, just like Warcraft and Starcraft, as well as a great deal of time travel. Expect heavy utilization of Greek, Roman, and Norse myths, with weaponry ranging from magic to modern firearms. Apparently, there's also going to be a number of elements from Warcraft into the world. Several established writers, including Richard A. Knaak, have been invited to participate.

Gameplay-wise, it's going to be an MMO, set primarily in the third-person (with a first-person perspective during events). Players will be treated to a completely new game engine, tab targeting, and all the other trappings one would expect: Blizzard-style graphics, "clan" housing, and an auction house. Most interestingly, the game's being designed with eSports in mind.

Last, but certainly not least, the development team currently consists of approximately one hundred fifty people, and includes Jay Wilson in its ranks. Expect more at Blizzcon 2013, where the developer is expected to release a teaser as well as details on all its other major franchises.

This may be little more than a rumor, but it's certainly a meaty one, to say the least. Here's hoping the information's legit.

I have a bad feeling about this game.

Wasn't SC2 designed for eSports.

We all know how that turned out...

Pretty good?

And I think, because it is an a MMO, the eSports design will be around PVP, not the whole game. Because an eSport that consists of who can kill the raid boss the fastest wouldn't make it. As far as Jay Wilson, we already knew he left Diablo for Titan months ago.

Eh, we'll see if Blizzards new MMO will be the WoW killer. I doubt even they could top the success of WoW.

I was going with mediocre compared to Sc1.

I thought the gameplay was improved. Sure, they story wasn't as average as SC, but everything else was improved. Granted, I haven't played nearly as much SC2 as I had SC1. I just lost the desire to be competitive in an RTS, so it might not be as good and I just haven't put in the time to find out.

Story? Absolutely.

Missions? SC2, and especially HOTS, is much more varied!
Only the last mission is truly a "Kill their whole base" mission; everything else does a great job of really mixing up the gameplay. SC1 is basically "Here is the enemy, destroy their base." which was fine for its day, but doesn't work as well today.

Gameplay? You are just being a hater.
The game different than SC1/BW (noting that pros have to actually practice & transition to SC2), but different doesn't mean better or worse (having a slightly different set of available units immediately changes builds/strategies/and even the overall metagame), and in many ways its vastly improved over sc1.

Cautiously optimistic, the way that D3 has turned out has completely shaken my blind trust in Blizzard.

esports? Well this will be entertaining when Blizzard fails to knock World of Warcraft off its thrown with their own game.

For PVP, if they can balance it more about team composition and skill rather than gear, it could be an eSport. WoW Arenas was / is (not sure if it still is) in MLG for awhile.

If they balance it like a fighting game rather than a "get better gear to kill people better" mentality that was with WoW. I think it might do good if it is fun and has depth.

I guess I'm a fan of those times then, cause I actually like those missions. Not a big fan of the timed missions especially in an RTS. I want to go my own pace and check out all the details and units and whatnot.

well... its gonna be interesting to see

i liked the "3rd person view but 1st person in events"... sounds promising

i dont care for esports, i dont think that is gonna be good or bad for the game, its just like a part of it. And if the pvp part is well done, great. LOL is esport oriented and i played it fairly casually and it was a lot of fun

History with fiction? doesnt sound bad

i hope they use the SWTOR approach to Questing. Even though SWTOR was far from perfect i would never be able to come back to reading a manuscript with the reason for doing the question, what im supposed to do, do the quest and come back to read another manuscript with the thanks for doing it

im kinda excited...

best comment ever. i would laugh so hard if Titan is subs based and it has to go f2p a couple months after release :p

100% this will have an in-game cash shop with micro/macro transactions. You know it's true  I expect outright money for gear straight up.

MMO + esports... does not compute.

The alliance tournament in Eve does well. In fact, there are a lot of eSport competitions in Eve, and they work pretty well. I have never played any other MMO, so I don't know how they usually work, but I don't see how that would be a hard thing to do.

WoW was used in some eSports leagues and it was their Arena combat. I don't know how they set it up though, because I'd imagine not every team was in the same battle group and unless blizzard gave them a ptr style server where they could all copy their characters, it might have been emulation (which is not 100% accurate).

That'd be a cool setting if it's true, I'd enjoy a more grounded/medieval fantasy atmosphere.

and lol @ ten ambiguous no-source sentences and already the harbingers of doom ride in

It sounded like an RPGs til the esport part. Though I suppose high hit point combat could work. The question is, aside from esport a if it is an rpg, will it be proper grinding like Everquest or max level in 2 weeks easy mode?

Hmmm

It sounds interesting. I'm not thrilled about the part with the standard cartoony graphics though that Blizzard seems to like. I'm done with seeing that crap.

It's nice to hear about a new IP in the works anyways. We haven't had enough of those lately in my opinion. Hopefully we can expect something fresh out of this.
