project switching

How can I set Boinc to crunch 6 hours project 1 and then 6 hours project 2?

I set: "switch between applications every 360 minutes", however everytime a project downloads new work Boinc preempts the current running project and runs the other one.
Boinc doesn't respect the setting 🙁

Does somebody know how to fix it?

Thanks

BOINC actually does respect the setting, but only if both projects have the same share. If both projects are set to 50/50, then BOINC should switch "about" every six hours, if there is no long term debt for one of the two projects.

i set both to 100 because I suspected it would be due to the share, it didn't help.

edit: or has boinc troubles with managing 2 cores?

If it's switching projects when new work is downloaded, check the deadline on the new work. It could be pre-empting for work with earlier deadlines. If you see anything in your message log for anything like, "computer overcommitted, using earliest deadline first", then that's definitely it.

Also note that in the short term after you made the adjustments to resource share and switch times, things will be out of whack until it stablizes. Give it a day or two at 50/50 (acutally any equal resource share) and your 360 switch times. Should be good to go.

Also what uallas5 says is true, if a project has short deadlines, it will go in panic mode to finish the work.

It will (or at least should) sort itself out over time.
