Project Offset

Pretty much what the title says. Their website keeps going down, then up, then down again, but with no changes that I can tell. Wondering if anyone has heard anything lately...............

There was small piece on it on the main AT page recently (part of a larger piece on MIA games):

Project Offset is yet another entry into the fantasy realm, this time in the form of a first person action game. While still undergoing development, it is common for games to be tagged with the term project followed by either the name of the developer or the graphics engine used to create the game. In this case, both apply. Developer Offset has never given its game an official title or a target release date, but they released just enough information about the game to get gamers excited about the project. While a lot of developers choose to string gamers along, releasing small bits of info here and there, almost nothing has come to light since the game's announcement in 2005. However, in February of this year, Sam McGrath of Offset Software announced that the company was being purchased by Intel of all companies. Although Sam promised gamers that Project Offset was "still going strong" in his announcement, the proof will be in the pudding. Sadly, we have seen no pudding. Where is Bill Cosby when we need him?

Linkage

Been waiting for this one forever it seems. Apparently we will be waiting for a while longer.

I've been looking forward to this one as well.. but as time goes on it does seem more and more likely that it's only a tech demo to sell the engine.

It looked great 2-3 years ago when it was first shown, it's starting to look more like an average game graphically now. I nearly forgot about this game.

Nice find mb!

"We have been told by the Intel PR rep that the founders of Offset Software have launched Fractiv LLC, a new game development studio. A quick WHOIS check of fractiv.com (which aside from an email address has little on it) does show that the domain is owned by Sam McGrath, one of the founders of Offset Software. We have emailed McGrath and other Offset Software team members to find out more about Fractiv including if they have the rights to continue development of Project Offset at their new company.

Update: Sam McGrath has responded back to our inquires with this statement: "Yes, we have indeed parted ways with Intel and I, along with the other original founders of Offset, have started Fractiv. Unfortunately I can't say any more than that at this stage but I'm looking forward to answering your questions in the near future."

No telling how long it's meant by 'the near future'....lol
