Though it was still cool to see it all go down. The filming and planning I mean.

I think they made more money with the television series than they did with the movie, which is fine, its only a million dollars (in movie money thats not a lot) they can just write it off, to offset the profits they did make in the year.

iirc you had to review several (20) scripts for each one you submit. then the top choices were reviewed by the guys running contest, then the top ones out of those get $$$ and equipment to film a scene.

from what I've read there will be a season 3 but HBO isn't gonna carry it, it will be on BRAVO or something like that.

yes, Shaker Heights was unbelievably bad.

Yea, I just don't understand why they picked a screenplay that turned into a flop. Out of all the screenplays out there they could have found SOMETHING that would have been more successful.

wasn't this on showtime? Not HBO?

as for the screen plays, they had several that were excellent. they were hosted online for a bit and i read a few of them. basically, they need to choose an indie/cult comedy that works well with a low budget, and not some deep meaningful metaphorical drama that hollywood only appreciates if tom hanks is in it.

this answer, I think, is referring to the first season's contest, where the writer is also the director. the last season, they split the contest into two, one for writer, and the other for directing. but what you are saying, is that if you submit a script, you have to review others? isn't that a conflict of interest?
