Because to implement a communist society you need to radically not conform to our current one. The idea that people conform within groups they are part of is just stating the obvious.

You appear to be confusing the words change with progress.

For example. We could start requiring women to wear burkhas when they went outside. This would inarguably be change. But I think you would agree it would not be progress.

Any article that suggests north korea, the USSR, and cuba as the ideal of what "leftists" are going for in the western world, or even more hilariously, america, is so ridiculously absurd as to be something one should be embarrassed to link to.

I agree, you can simply look at France, Spain, Greece, and Italy to see how progressives have screwed things up, there's no need to include any communist countries, at all.

Not "going for", just "end up creating".

None of those places were ever sold to anyone based on any honest presentation of the actual RESULTS. They were/are the rotten fruit of stupid utopian ideas about how everything would be wonderful, everyone would be taken care of, everyone would be equal, the bourgeoisie/rich/1% etc. would be put in their place, power to the people, power to the 'workers', the all-powerful, all-knowing state would make everything fair, yada yada...

Actual *results* apart from all the pie-in-the-sky horseshit propaganda used to sell the dumb ideas in the first place was never any of the hardcore party faithful's concern. Western leftists don't give a rat's ass about what results from their desires to force many of the same failed and stupid ideas on society either.

A thought provoking article.
http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2014/01/progressives-without-progress.html

Sound familiar? Scarcity and redistribution. The cornerstones of current progressive thought. Except it's always been at the heart of their movement which is actually based in extreme conservatism. I would have loved to quote the whole article but attention spans are short.

All you have to do is replace progressives with conservatives and it has the same exact meanings. This is full of vague oversimplifications and accusations.

Which makes it full of shit. Get back to us when it has a leg to stand on. Until then it's partisan bullshit that is the reason why this country is going down the toilet.

Partisan fucks.

So the author of this is a conservative? The link below is why people write articles like the one you're unhappy with. The author is a simpleton but he's got a whole lot of company.

Why you’re wrong about communism: 7 huge misconceptions about it (and capitalism)

. Just as you see Bill Gates et al as having a disgraceful amount of wealth which could only be earned through dishonesty and undeserved privilege, so these people see you as having a disgraceful amount of wealth which could only be earned through dishonesty and undeserved privilege. Can't have just a little revolution, gotta burn down everything of value. Otherwise you'd just be the new 0.1 percenter and the whole revolution would have been for naught.

You do realize that Bill Gates "purchased" MS-Dos for 60k and turned around and sold it for 100s of millions. Capitalism at its finest.... fucking over the creators. We would have been getting Oses for free all of these years and they would have been most likely followed open standards. They would have just worked... kind of like BIOSes.

Bill Gates got a disgraceful amount of wealth by screwing over genuises and overcharging the rest of us for something that should have come free with the computer. In the future, OSes will be free, because of Bill Gates the computing experience has been a nightmare for all these years.

So, uhh, Bankers are progressives? Really? And it was progressives who allowed them to function under looser & looser "Free Market!" standards until the whole thing nearly collapsed?

WTF planet are you from, anyway?

Exquisite rant of rage & denial. Bravo!

There towards the end you almost touched on something meaningful, like the failed and stupid idea of trickle down supply side Reaganomics. We're 30 years into it, but I have a couple of questions- Where are the jobs? Where'd the money go? Why are median families receiving assistance that they didn't need before we listened to Ronnie?

The trade deficit due to globalization and illegal immigration driving down domestic wages are in no way related to trickle down.

Besides, you're the idiot who claims that quantitative easing is a good thing rather than just another form of trickle down. You're such a gullible little turd.

Yeh, cutting taxes at the top didn't give business the capital to offshore, or to automate, either. Offshoring is very good for American capitalists, and, well, anything that's good for them is part & parcel of trickle down ideology. We all know that, or should.

Of course QE is trickle down- I don't recall claiming otherwise. It's what the Fed can do. It's better than the Cut! Cut! Cut! of Republicans today. Perhaps they should shrink the money supply, a la 1931? Probably not.

Other parts of govt would likely be more effective, but they're paralyzed by austerians.

Hey aren't you late for your Progressives Without Progress meeting? You're their poster-child after all.

Sputtering, I see. Perhaps you have something resembling a well reasoned argument?

/facepalm

You're such a bumbling idiot. You're going to claim that income tax cuts were responsible for offshoring?

OOh! putting words in my mouth. Expected behavior from you, I suppose.

Tax cuts facilitated offshoring, they didn't cause it. Offshoring costs money up front, so the quicker you can amass the capital, the quicker you can make it happen.

Maybe they need more tax cuts, as Mitt suggested, so they can create jobs. It's obviously worked well so far.

Yep, some are, but owing to the collapse is their tax rates, they ran off most of their high earners (to the benefit of Switzerland and Monaco) and failed to scale back their social programs. Some EU countries defaulted and others are perpetually on the edge of it.

You really, really have no idea what you're talking about. But you believe, so you'll likely never know.

That's what right wing propaganda is intended to achieve with susceptible people- belief beyond reason.

Victims never know how good that propaganda really is- they just know how good it feels to believe it.
