Progressive scan region free dvd/DivX player $48 AR

Pretty decent price, although a $5 MIR kind of pisses me off... is it really worth it?

Anyway, does anyone know if this supports DiVX 6? (And yes, I know it doesn't list it on the product description)

Great price for a good budget player..has an easy region free hack too. I have one of these and it has played almost everything I've thrown at it.

Great. I was waiting for this, but I cannot access CC website from the office since Monday. Weird.

According to Video Help it does support divx. I do have this player and it will play most anything. I do have some issues with a few divx discs I have.

I bought two of these on different sales the past couple of weeks. One was with a $5 rebate and the other had a $10 rebate. Both for under $50 AR. So far I've used only one of them and it works great. I had purchased a Toshiba from BB BF sale for $30 AR (Reg $50) to have in the bedroom, but this Philips blows it away for just $15-$20 more. The Toshiba was a killer price too for a functional dvd player.

What I like most is that you can play Divx and Xvid files. You don't have to convert them to dvd format first. It sure comes in handy. So much so, that I have one of the Philips units along with my main dvd player in my HT set up. If my main dvd player won't play the file, the Philips will.

most TV shows dl from the net are in divx and many of the movies are in divx because the file size is significantly smaller than say an svcd.

an other question :
does it matter if the DivX is on a data CD or data DVD ? I know it works with data CD, but I am not sure these players support data DVD to play mp3's or DivX movies.

DVDs work fine also.

Yep. That's why I like it. Instead of converting the Divx or Xvid files to DVD format in order to watch it, all I have to do is burn the data files to a dvd and this player will play them.

actually I will pass on this one. I would be more interested in the equivalent with a wifi connection, to access a media library on the main server, instead of having to burn and swap cd's. Anybody knows a good one ?

$53 - $5 dollar rebate.

Free shipping.

CC has a $15 off $100 coupon good until 12/3 if you have something else to buy for a bit more than $47.

These are now $48.xx everyday at Wallymart. Saw them on BF but they weren't a BF item, at my local. Says they are $59.96 online but the instore price is lower (for a change). YMMV...

you sure? cause thats a mighty fine deal...but i guess with taxes it almost comes out to the same thing

edit: nevermind, there's tax for buying online at CC.

Blah, there's tax involve which brings it to $52 and change AR. I should just wait it out for Amazon or Buy to lower their price.

I just got one of these recently and so far I love it. DivX support rules...5 or 6 movies on a single DVD.

Check out the videohelp section for it for info on how to repair it if one of the capacitors go. It is apparently really common and the main problem people have with this unit, but it can be fixed with a $2 part and 10 minutes of your time.

Some DivX/XVid files show up in weird colors, but just entering the menu then exiting fixes it. New firmware just came out that I haven't tried yet...may fix that problem.
