WOW! That is cheap! Doesn't look like this is super quality, but the price is right. If anyone gets in on this, let us know how it sounds, quality, etc.

Great price, but I doubt the sub is powered. The sound is probably not too good either, but you get what you pay for, and these should definitely be better than standard TV speakers.

They are at Aldi now I think. I know someone who got one around XMAS on Ebay for about $180 shipped. The sub plugs into the L and R outputs on the back of the receiver/dvd unit. It has a built in high pass filter, so the L and R speakers plug into the sub and they get the higher frequency audio while the sub produces the low. The rear speakers get all frequencies of sound, so they are very distorted during explosions (games, movies, exc) because they try to produce bass, hinting there is no low-pass filter for rear speakers or there is bleeding from other channels (because in surround sound, bass frequencies usually are not encoded to rear channels, only front and sub.)

The sound is decent, the receiver feels solid, and its worth the 130 bucks Aldi is asking. It has no pro-logic (I or II) and no digital EX, so basically the decoders a late-90's implementation. I don't think it has any fiber input or digital coax input.

The speakers are rated at 40w 8ohm each, sub 75w 8ohm. The RMS value of each speaker would be under 18w rms; under 30w rms for the sub. I also want to note it came with 26ga wire. Not a big deal, but consider that this wire is rated at 100w @ 120v/1.5A (Radioshack stranded-copper Grade A rating) and your at the ceiling of its capability.

If I were to buy it, I'd probably replace the wiring anyway because it only comes with 1 meter for front speakers and 3 meters for rear (10ft.)

Nice first post dosman. I don't think this will be the ultimate in home theater experience...but for $129, I'm not sure what people would expect anyway. This probably wouldn't be a bad deal for those looking for home theater on a tight budget...although I've never heard of Tevion before so I don't know if they're good or bad.

It's sort of ironic that this "inexpensive" DVD player / package supports progressive scan because most people with tv's that support progressive scan probably wouldn't even be looking at an "all in one" package at this price point. And those that would buy this for "budget" reasons probably wouldn't shell out the big $$$ for a progressive scan capable tv. I could be way off in my thinking...but that's just my 2 cents.

At any rate, I'm definitely not thread crapping because I do think this could be a deal for someone out there.

yeah, i agree. most people with progrossive scan tvs (almost always hdtv ready) are probably willing to spend more on audio/dvd. but its good for future compatability, because the prices of progressive scan tvs are falling. same thing happened with component inputs. awhile back they were only on very high end tvs, but a few days ago i bought a 27inch RCA with 720lines of res and component in for $270, w/o using a special deal. and many cheaper tvs have them as well. when hdtv picks up, progressive scan will be standard, and a unit like this will come in handy.
