I'm looking for some good comprehensive software for a Ti-89 to help me with a Calc class. What have you people used in the past and has it been helpful?

I'm going to recommned something to you, but you're not going to like it:

Do not use a TI-89 for any calc 1 class. Ever. You will become so damn dependent on it that you will not learn what is necessary.
 
^ true. Just use it with all the damn triple integrals, those things were a pain when I took that class. or use it to check your integration and such

Exactly. It is a must. I tutor a lot, and frequently people are tied to their calcs and are practically clueless when I tell them to put it away and try to do the problem.

Not gonna happen during my watch. 😀

I almsot never use a calc when I am tutoring. EVERYTHING BY HAND. 😀


No wonder they are all doing so well😎

Except that one kid here on OT tha I promised help to and wasn't able to deliver because of prior engagements😱

I'm crunched for time and want to be able to check all the answers for my assignments quickly. If I had more time it wouldn't be an issue. As I'm sure you know, teachers don't accept assignments without written work so the calculator hardly provides a way around learning it.

Nothing in particular, sometimes its nice to see what other people are doing, who have been there and done that. General consensus is do it all by hand. I don't disagree with that and it seems to have worked for all of you.

And for the record, the ONLY reason I would psot on a Public messageboard where I will probably never get to meet you is NOT because it makes me feel high and mighty.

In fact, I do it because I LOVE seeing progress in my students because I really care for the welfare of my fellow man. In this case, I feel that it would be in your best interests to learn how to do it. If you are doing it by hand, well then, great! That is awesome and the best of luck to you

don't be so quick to judge either😉
 
Just be sure to ONLY use the Ti-89 to CHECK your work. Don't give in to temptation and say, "well, I'll just do PART of it on the calculator", because next thing you know you're doing the whole thing.
 
Sorry for being rash. Under a bit too much pressure lately with this whole going back to school thing. I appreciate the comments.

haha, yes. That was necessary on tests, and as such, I am past that class now.
