Whats the best way to learn to make my own personal programs I can use myself so I can make them do exactly what I want them to do instead of using aomeone elses program? Is this even worth it to do?

Usually not.

Often you can get the same effect by taking something like Excel, Access, or even the scripting in Word to customize them to your needs -- for example, you can store contact info or a to-do list in an Excel sheet.
