while there is no simple way to open two windows to split the space on your monitor without manual resizing.
Hold Ctrl and click the taskbar item of each window you want to see split. then right click and select "Tile Horizontally" or "Tile Vertically" :)

Awesome trick! Didn't realize you could CTRL-select mulitple windows. That rocks!

That trick has been around since Windows 3.1!

I just got upgraded to dual monitors (2 2007FP's, 1600x1200) and while it's handy to have browsing and email on one screen, I still mostly only use one monitor while coding. But then, I use 9 virtual desktops (and am thinking about bumping it up to more), so I don't have big problems with window clutter (to the extent that I don't use a taskbar either). I also haven't had much time to adjust my habits yet. Maybe coding on one side, and general shell stuff on the other. Hm, I should start doing that.

In conclusion... I'm not sure which aspect ratio is better. :p

Actually, a 24" widescreen made my work so much easier than having two 19" monitors.

It's a bit of personal preference. I never liked dual monitors, for productivity or personal use.

Interesting. I thought I had come to the conclusion that widescreen was mainly good for media, but this thread has me reconsidering.

Personally I love my set up one 24" Widescreen Dell 2405FPW and one 20" 4:3 Dell 2007FP. Best of both worlds.
