So I have an old E-Machine I'm fixing for a friend Model W2040 it just looked like a bad windows installation to me (I was getting a short blue screen my Friend did not notice it but I saw the stop error not enough time to see what it said though so I did a format and reinstall using a real XP CD and not the restore Disks so no crap would get put on the computer from E-Machines. So any way I ran memtest and that was fine I just need a Test to do the MB and CPU and see if the Power supply is bad So what programs should I use? Thanks

I would test the CPU first with loops of prime95 for a few hours, then run memtest. If both are stable try a 3dmark loop for a while, with a prime95 if the video card won't let the cpu reach full use, I don't know what kind of hardware he has. That should be pretty taxing.

8 hours is my target, personally. I occasionally saw errors around the 4 hour mark if I was pushing too hard; you wouldn't see that on a 3-hour scan. 6 passes of Memtest should easily be enough.
