Program to spin-down a harddrive?

I have a 3 harddrives in my system and so it gets quite noisy. Is there anyway to "turn-off" or spin down 2 of the 3 hardrives and still use my computer? I figure, why have the harddrives running and making noise if I'm not going to need to access them?

Hard drive noise shouldnt be THAT much of an issue. Computer noise typically comes mostly from fans.

You can just use standard windows power management and set your drives to power down after a certain amount of time. They won't come alive again unless you access them. You can use your computer normally off the boot drive, the others won't power up until you try to use them.

Thanks. That's been working okay, but for some reason my secondary drive stopped spinning, then I accessed it, and since it hasn't stopped spinning. Very odd. The sound was definetly quiter when it did spin down though, so I'm hoping to find a program that does this more "specifically" (for lack of a better word).

Does anyone know if doing this can cause damage to the harddrives?
