Program to record my game to mpg?

I'm sure there's such a thing, I've even seen shareware/retail packages that do something like this. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good freeware programs that will simply start recording my screen(to an mpg file preferrably) from the time I press a button until I press it again, or something to that effect. That's all I need it to do, nothing else fancy about it. I'd like to capture a video of a certain game, and then import it to Premiere(once I get it) and add music and stuff.
