Program to open a 1.25GB text file

So yea trying to open a 1.25 GB txt file, notepad and wordpad just dont work

notepad++ will open it but it will only show me 1821371 lines which is about 1/2 the file

any ideas

Try a trial version of EditPlus 3; I'm using it for one of my courses.

ultraedit-32 will work even if you have only 512mb memory.

just disable temp. file creation. (warning: all your edits will be permanent)

Are you actually trying to read the whole thing or search for something in particular? If the latter try using the Windows find command or get a copy of grep.

I've used Textpad and it works pretty good for being free.

Thanks for the suggestions, i got it with Edit Pad Lite http://www.editpadpro.com/editpadlite.html

and yes i needed to be able to see the entire thing at once

Haha. I have Worldoflogs' client split, zip and archive them for me (though honestly I'm not sure why I archive em).

Haha. I have Worldoflogs' client split, zip and archive them for me (though honestly I'm not sure why I archive em).

When a program at work started generating log files of well over 24gb, I had to get a program to open it to see what the last message was before it started to loop. Found this software called Viewer and it did it without a hitch. Good luck.

For a plain text file that was actually meant to be read, yes. But this was an on-going log for wow so that makes it different. Imagine if Eve didn't split up their logs I'm sure it would get this big too.
