program to limit bandwidth?

Is there any software out there that will limit the bandwidth you take in. My brother consistently drains my connection when im playing. I got Qos on the router and it works but if u max out the connection it still lags badly so i wanna limit the bandwidth he can take in. If it was something like a torrent program it would be simple but its not. Its youtube HD videos and other stuff.

Whatever you use it will have to either be installed on his computer or on the router.
Another option is to get an old pc, a p200 would work, and use something like ipcop to limit usage based on the interface he uses.

Haven't sued it recently, but IIRC it works.

That's good, there's too much litigation these days. Seriously, though, I use Netlimiter 2 and I love it. Note that if you want to limit your brother's bandwidth, you'll have to install this program on HIS computer and convince him to use it 🙂

Lol, bad typo 😱. Fixed.

OP, make sure you're brother knows he's being limited. Otherwise he might retaliate by sabotaging your PC.

<- has younger brother who removed CMOS (BIOS) battery after boot passwording computer. Google will work against you, sometimes.

Can't you set the QOS on the router so that it limits his IP to a maximum d/l? Set it to 1/3 - 1/2 your connection speed and you should be fine.

The QOS should work. Even if you max the set limit, it really shouldn't lag. Sure you set it up right?

yes its setup right and even had a networking guy check it out. I'll set it up on his pc tomorrow and he will be fine with it.
