Program to create recovery disks?

This is a tad off topic, but does anyone know of a program (preferably free of course 😀) that will create iso files (or equivalent) that can be used as restore disks? Like say I want to back up the contents of my computer right now so I can restore it immediately if my hard drive dies. Is there such a program?
