Program like DaemonTools, but for burning? Virtual CD-RW

I was wondering if there's a virtual CD-RW app, similar to DaemonTools & Alcohol 120%. I need to burn stuff, but it's of a VERY temporary nature, and would be a waste of a CD-R (I need to do this several times..so it would be wasting several CD-Rs). Is there a virtual CD-RW app out there??

Thanks

Sorry, I should've been more specific.

I need to temporarily burn audio tracks from iTunes, in order to re-rip them as Mp3 format. This is a waste of media.. I'd rather burn them to a virtual CD-RW or burn them straight to an .ISO if possible. Any way to do this?

You can use a program like Nero to make an image from several files. You just have to select "Virtual Recorder" or something like that instead of your actual CD-RW drive. When you burn the files, Nero will prompt you to save the image to some location.

Yeah but in order to get iTunes music onto CD, I have to use the iTunes burner. I can't use Nero. And iTunes doesn't know how to burn to an image. I have to somehow create a virtual CD-R drive that it thinks is a real burner..then burn to it. Don't I?

Since you're limited to using the iTuners burner, then all you really can do make an image file of the CD burnt using iTunes. You could just burn to a CD-RW, and then using a program like Alcohol 120 or the old CloneCD to rip the CD-RW to an image file (ISO). The image file could then be mounted using Daemon Tools or Alcohol.

Then just erase the CD-RW and repeat as necessary.

Is that even remotely close to what are wanting to do?

Yeah that's pretty close. I suppose you're right, I could just use a CD-RW and reuse it over and over, and just rip that into WinAmp. It would be nice to have a virtual CD-RW though...

Nero can do it, but not the as nice as you would like it to be. Just write to an Image file and mount it using Nero. I don't think Daemon-Tools can mount a NRG file.

D-Tools can mount an NRG file, but that's besides the point. I don't know of any virtual cd-rw apps out there, so I'd have to go the way of writing to a cd-rw.

CloneCD perhaps? With the virtual clonedrive?

I don't think either one will let you create a virtual CD-RW that you can burn to. I need something where I can create a virtual CD-RW, which gets an actual drive letter..so that any software that burns can use it.

or you could just use HYMN to covert .m4p to .mpa and then use iTunes to convert them to MP3.

One warning though, while hymn does remove DRM, it doesn't remove the watermark that identifies who bought the file. So i wouldn't advise any illegal activities, but if you have a MP3-only player like me, it works great
