I upgraded from 2K Pro to XP Pro on the understanding that older games and programs that previously would not work under 2K would do so under XP. What do other users think about this? I have found that some programs that previously worked under 2K no longer do so under XP e.g. PowerDVD.

<< For PowerDVD 2.5 and 2.55 users
Version 2.5 and early 2.55 builds may not work porperly under
Windows XP. You may have to upgrade your PowerDVD to PowerDVD XP 4.0.

As for compatibility program for games in XP,in my experience it works fine for some older games but not all,so it`s trial & error.

I have just found out that Partition Magic 6 no longer works under XP and that I will need to buy version 7. This seems like a good reason for keeping my Windows 98 installation which can run version 6.

I thought that XP would allow me to run some of the programs that I could not run under 2K. This has not been the case for me. Worse still some of my programs that ran under 2K no longer work under XP. Other programs that ran under 98 but not under 2K still do not work under XP. What have I gained - a sexier gui?

Most apps will work, but keep in mind that apps like PQmagic, Norton Ghost, etc are all low level utils. Thus, an updated file system, etc will need an updated app.
