the kid is rude, but the professor can get in trouble for breaking other people's personal property. he should've just kicked him out

Violent outbursts like that from the professor are not only unprofessional, but they probably made the students more uncomfortable and distracted than the cell phone call.

The student could have easily gotten the professor a reprimand for his actions, especially with video evidence of the outburst.

It's not the callers fault.

I thought it was pretty awesome myself. Annoys he hell out of me when people's cellphones ring during class.

Last semester in my english class there was a kid who's cell rang every other class. Not just once, but like 3 times in a row before whoever was calling gave up. NEVER did the guy have it on vibrate or silenced mode, so we always got to hear it. Really fscking annoying.

My cellphone is always on vibrate, because I think it's incredibly rude to have your cell go off in a lecture. You know you are going to be there, and that you need to be paying attention. If it's a life or death situation, skip class.

The correct response is to eject the student from the class and not allow him to return.

Breaking property is not a good response.

I hate when peoples cellphones go off during class. Atleast keep it on vibrate and excuse yourself from class to call the person back if its that important. The professor did take that a little too far by busting the cell phone. He could have just made fun of the kid in front of class or took the cell phone from him and told whoever was on the other end he'd call them back if it wasnt an emergency. If it was my cell phone though i probably would have went after him. I'm surprised that kid just sat there and did nothing.

I turned mine off. It's not like I would have answered it anyway

LOL that is funny.... But, I would have filed a police report and had the prick charged. If real, that is destruction of private property most likely with a high enough value to make a mess of things for the teacher. I think its arranged though because there was no outburst from the phone's owner. I would have let out a loud WTF!!!!
