The Left's Acrobatic Logic on Terror
Europe and Africa's Hatred of America
The Left's Campaign for Terrorism

Total fiction raving to evangelical whacko cultist types... but not surprising you are defending it.
Still, this is pretty much under the radar still and Iam keeping an eye on it, firing a prof. seems plain dumb regardless of his views.
I am sure there must be more breaking on this one. He was called a racist to his face by the administration so I am curious what could warrant such a harsh call-out of a faculity member (who allegedly has minority children)....quite disturbing.

I dont know anything about the book in question. Could you expand on what is in the book that you dont like and how it is not suited for the class he teaches.

The charges are racism appear to be completely false, as he has adopted minority children.

Some quick Googling reveals he teaches the following classes:

Spring 2005:

CAMW 2001: The American West

HIST 1015: U.S. History to 1865

HIST 1025: U.S. History since 1865

Hist 2215: Era of the American Revolution

SEWL 2020: Conversations on the American West

None of those seem to me to be an appropriate course for a book that says "What Would Jesus Do?" on the cover.

a book published in 1897 had "What Would Jesus Do?" on the cover?

The reprinted version sold on Amazon.com does.

I know plenty of serious radicals that make anyone in here look like neocons or even myself and I have never even heard ever of someone wanting people banned for free speech. Sounds like wishful thinking from the right so can have a exscuse for their much
sought after cultural ethnic cleansing.
I have yet to see a "radical" on this forum what the lefties talk about on here is on tv late night etc. please...... turn off foxnews and step back into reality.
Has there even been a leftie in here that has admitted to being a black blocer?
I haven't seen one- just some fence-sitters that get most of their info from tv news just like you all do.
I could write a book on the radical hate that comes from the right here daily.
All the "radical lefties" my ass. When the left starts blowing up oil refinerys or something then come talk to me about radicals.

The U.S. needs cultural and ethnic cleansing.

Get them out of Government/Schools and back into Church.

I swear to God, you don't pay any attention to what anyone else says, do you? You form your opinions and then go about your day with other ideas just bouncing off. I know the radical left (and the radical right for that matter) are bad. Maybe you might notice this because I say it all the time.

But what is not clear to me is how many people are willing to accept that "most liberals understand the need for intellectual diversity", or whether you'd all rather stand around whining about the mean old lefties.

I don't need to repeat the part your bolded in my head, I already know it. You, however, seem to have at best a weak grasp of what I suggested YOU need to focus on.

Please the OLD left would be calling these people out burning down public buildings and calling the soldiers out for their heavy handedness in not so PC terms.
You mean the repug-lites are the "new" left. The left has lost it's backbone through the watering down of our media for decades.
All you hear are carefully chosen words to not step on the toes or fit a stereotype that the right put on them anyhow.
Little do they realize that this is exactly where they want the left. right in their sights and constantly backing the left into the wall and keeping them on the defensive on THEIR terms through lies and disinformation.
Keep compromising with thugs racists and bigots on their views and soon the dems will be toast. (they pretty much are already IMO if you look at their voting record)
There is NO representation of the fighting left anymore. Democracy has failed.

Either fight them now on your own terms or sit back and just wait like tv news fed sheep until they have a good excuse to start up the cattle cars again to deal with the "traitorious libs"
IMO the left wants people to respect one another in the end.
While the right will not be happy until they have cleansed the godless from the earth.
Your choice how you want to go out. There lies become truth the longer people sit on their hands though.

Let me help some of you out . . . that have no idea about "how it works" in the academy.

You could be the BEST teacher . . . EVAR . . . and get canned if you do not produce enough "scholarly" work to keep the department chair happy. If this prof wanted to "teach" as a career, he should have chosen some small liberal arts college that values teaching or maybe some place like Oral Roberts, Liberty, or Bob Jones. You know . . . colleges with agendas.

In my field it's even more warped. It's all about the Benjamins . . . typically NIH Benjamins but pharmaceutical company money folds, too. In essence, if you are a "rainmaker" in either cash or "buzz" but preferably both . . . you are all but guaranteed tenure. At every elite and wannabe elite university in the land, if you've got time to teach . . . it's highly unlikely you are "valued" by that university . . . regardless of your political or religious beliefs.

Terrible

Then, Mitchell had the audacity to use a book on liberal Protestantism in the late 19th century. So repulsed by the word "god" was one student, she complained, and the department chair fired him without a meeting, he said.

You don't fire a long term professor w/o even a meeting... Maybe this chair is a devil worshiper? Either way this history department sucks from everything I been reading. Can't talk about AA w/o being called a racist, can't talk about western reilgion (Christianity) at all which played a signifigant part in our lives for thousands of years in laws, customs, contracts, socialiclogy. what-ever...

Holy crap! OMG, has your God finally enlightened you? You FINALLY and I mean FINALLY have the ability to differentiate between most liberals and radical lefts. I mean, wow. I hope you can stop lumping all Democrats as radical lefts now. Now let's see if you can identify sources of radical right behavior.

If only the radical left weren't controlling the party. Not that the radical right is any better, but that is why some people think all democrats are radically left.

edit: Note the "assuming." I will reserve my final judgement until I hear what the university has to say about this.

They'll claim Christianity is waging a war against the US constitution and argue against the 10 Commandments. I could care less if they removed them, but the illiberals have been bashing christianty for quite some time now and they won't stop anytime soon.

Of course the Universities across America are full of anti-Christian, anti-US and anti-Israeli sentiment. Columbia university is notorious for having anti-Israel bias. Nothing wrong with that as long as you admit it. It's freedom of speech afterall, isn't it?

Or is it?

What is your specific preoccupation with israel?

Columbia is notorious for being the target of a smear campaign, which makes such claims, not for being actually anti-Israel. In the real world, Columbia University is home to the most prestigious Center for Israel and Jewish Studies in the country, has 7 endowed chairs of Jewish studies compared to only one of Arab studies, and teaches several classes on the Palestinian-Israeli conflic from the pro-Israel perspective compared to only one elective from an Arab perspective.
