Profanity filter is broken and causing all sorts of issues tonight

I've noticed that basically any word that contains the letters "n," "i," and "g" in a topic title gets censored. So even if you're using a legitimately appropriate word, such as "nightmare," it gets censored.

I see what they're trying to do... but they have failed miserably.

Didn't realize other threads had been affected. Bunping this up the chain.

is there a new "anti-troll" feature that has been installed, tied to certain keywords? Getting a weird new message trying to post in P&N....I mean, I kinda like it, maybe, if is designed to de-escalate the perpetual tire fire that is P&N, but it's weird.

It happened to me in the anime thread just now. I'd post the offending text, but I literally cannot post it in here without getting the same error. The text contains parenthesis, ampersand and an apostrophe... if that matters at all.

I think you must not be paying attention. They've been censoring content for years. Just not everything. In fact they let up on many words, just not racial slurs.

We have had recent issues with our profanity filter. We are working on a replacement. Our goal is not to censor vulgarities in ATOT, but to globally ban racial epithets in all sections of the forum. Any members using racial slurs on AT are unwanted and can take their discussions elsewhere.

I apologize for the hiccups as we work these kinks out. We have picked an add-on to replace our current profanity filter and are in the process of deploying/testing.

In the mean time I have tried to address the issues mentioned in this thread. Please let me know if you are still having issues posting.

For posts in the P&N forum at least, the bad word filter what was in effect for a bit before it was removed still catches edits to posts, even if the word was already there when first posted.
