Procrastination cost me an extra $27.34 to mail a birthday card :(

RossMAN

Grand Nagus
This is what I get for waiting until the last minute.

My friends birthday is tomorrow, 6/22.

So at 4:50 PM I go to the USPS, take the time to address a USPS Express overnight slip, drop the b-day card into the envelope, seal it up, wait in line ... walk up to the counter the guys says "so when's the birthday?", I reply "tomorrow" he chuckles and says "well this won't get there until Monday". WTF? Then he suggests I go to FedEx which might get it there tomorrow or even Sunday (a day after the b-day).

Ross arrives at FedEx where it's super busy, lady says if I do it within the next 5 minutes before the 5:00 PM cutoff it'll be there by tomorrow Noon. I'm thinking GREAT, I ask her how much she says $27.68!!! Apparently there's a Saturday delivery fee of $10 on top of the $17.68 regular fee. So I said damn this is one expensive b-day card, so I did it.

Had I used my noggin' and mailed the b-day card on Monday it would have only cost me $0.34 postage but noooooooooooooooo! I had to wait until the day before.

Procrastination = BAD!

That's what I was thinking, $27 to send a $2.99 Hallmark card ... I was telling myself, "Ross you dumb sh!t, it's the thought that counts but damn you could buy a stick of RAM for that kinda cash".

So I did it.

Dumb 'eh?

People who are important to you deserve that extra measure of thoughtfulness

$27.34?!?! That's usually $2.34 more than what's in the card if I ever send a friend a birthday card..

The times I've done that have been because I was so busy with work that I didn't have time to get stuff out
and/or it was needed ASAP by someone close to me. I'm a woman of my word and keeping on top of stuff is important to me even if I do occasionally eat extra costs associated with doing so 🙂

Hehe I find it funny that I give financial advice to people and work at a bank when I can't even mail a freakin' birthday card on time 🙁

brtspears2 - I was going to but I left my cc's at work, so I had to pay for it with CASH.

Yes I have learned my lesson.

Unfortunately it was a costly lesson but at least the birthday card will be there by 12:00 Noon tomorrow.

You should have just put a 34 cent stamp on it and wrinkled the hell out of the envelope.
Makes it look like it got caught in a sorting machine or something.
