Processor Upgrade

I was wondering if it was even worth the money to upgrade from my athlon 2500 to the athlon 3200. Is there a huge performance difference or is it just very minute changes in performance?

Don't get the athlon xp 3200+. Your wasting your money. Have you tried raising your front side bus to 200 mhz? You get a free 3200+ that way.

Well I managed to change the cpu from 166 mhz to 200 mhz. And noticed that the computer recognizes it as a 3200 but i wasn't quite sure if it was running at 3200 speeds or if there was an error.

But all I have to do is overclock and it would be just as fast as a 3200?

yes, and always test for stability with prime95

Depending on the price breaks, other than a cpu already warranted for three years at 400 fsb, the Bartons include a larger L2 cache, which should make a fairly noticeable difference that could be worth considering. I can certainly tell the improvement between a stock 2600 (333 MHz) with 256 K cache, versus the (also 333 MHz) stock 2800 with its 512 K cache.
