Processor Upgrade = keyboard lag?

I recently did a small upgrade. I have an older Neo2 board and I upgraded my processor from a 3000+ to a Venice 3800+. I also switched my RAM to a matched pair at 2Gb, upgraded from 1Gb matched pair.

My problem is that since I've done this I have an occasional keyboard lag in games. It'll be fine for 2-5 minutes then it'll act like the keyboard is stuck for 2-3 seconds, i.e. my character will keep running forward long after I've let off the key.

I removed the AMD processor driver before the upgrade, not that it should matter. I tried reinstalling it also. What am I missing? What part of this upgrade would cause this issue?

Here's what I'm going to try when I get home...

- check BIOS and the "enable USB keyboard" setting in the Neo2. The BIOS needed to be reset for the new RAM timings and I may have this set incorrectly. It should be off based on the MSI forums.
- Remove front USB connections. Also a reference to USB issues on the MSI forums.

I'll also try a different keyboard if I get to that point. The main problem is that it only happens while gaming and only once every few days, so it's hard to track it down with a simple check.
