You sure it is the CPU clock multiplier you are trying to change and not the HT multiplier?

check your mb jumpers... I had my FSB forced to 100mhz before, and didnt understand why I couldn't bring stuff up to speed...

When I look in my bios it says that my current cpu clock is 1810 but when I'm actually on my comp it says 1000

You have Cool n' Quiet enabled. The CPU drops to 1GHz when idle to save power. When the CPU is busy it will speed up.

Just run a program such as Prime95 or Folding@Home and then check your cpu speed. At 100% load your cpu should be at 1800. If it is still at 1000 then obviously something isn't right. If it is at 1800 then you know Cool N Quiet is running. If you overclock I would probably turn Cool N Quiet off.

change your multiplier to 9 in bios. Changing it in clock gen wont set it in bios and turn off cool n` quiet.

What motherboard are you using? There should be a setting for "CPU multi", I don't see that in the bios settings you listed?

I'm almost certain your problem has to do with Cool n Quiet, because thats what it does, it drops your multi to 5x. Under windows "Add remove programs" look for Cool n Quiet and uninstall it.

Formatting does nothing to the bios. HT Frequency is not what you want to change. You want the CPU multiplier.

I read the posts. Someone else said not to touch the HT multiplier.

However, as he's already had it working before now, I find it hard to believe that a BIOS update will allow him to recognise his already-recognised Venice core.

[Edit] As it happens, from the MSI manual:

Adjust CPU Ratio
This item lets you adjust the CPU ratio. Setting to [Startup] enables the CPU running at
the fastest speed which is detected by system. Setting options are: [Startup], [x4]~
[x12].

Uninstall CoreCel after doing the above.
