Hahahaha Just had a thought about one of my favorite WKYK sketches ....

Just about how many hot dogs do you eat a day?

Many things on that list aren't "processed" in the traditional sense. Beef jerky? Cut, marinate, dry/cook. Bacon? Smoke, cut, cook. Sausage? Cut, grind, stuff, cook. Red meat? Cut from primal, cook.

I don't know if that article (or any) really includes a definition of what they consider "processed". I typically think of "processed" foods as chemically preserved while also being mechanically modified.

WEll you have to look at the common factor here. They are looking for commonalities and the rate of cancer. It's apparently higher in people that eat those foods, which is 99% of the population. I'm just waiting for them to tell us to stop breathing because breathing causes cancer.

Breathing Nitrogen is a leading cause of nitrogen narcosis which can lead to death.

I'll pick a freshly grilled steak over processed meat any time of the day, but you can't beat the convenience of processed meat. Why not spend the money on researching a better and healthier way of making process meat instead?

I only skimmed the article, but it sounds like the only thing that makes processed meat dangerous is sodium nitrate, which only serves to make the food "look fresh".

So what's wrong with pointing out that food is made dangerous by something that serves no purpose than making meat look like its "supposed to"? I'd rather my food was healthy instead of looking healthy.

Yeah. I have some lunchmeat that doesn't have sodium nitrate, it has something else, some kind of salt, but not sodium nitrate.

It's the sodium nitrate not the processing. So chicken nuggets are fine, chicken patties are fine, etc. Just don't overdo the preserved meats.

No spam on the list...I'm good, then...

No it should be. Sodium nitrate. This study actually sucks some of the things they ran statistics on are red herrings IMO. Like canned red meat in soups. I don't see why it would be linked to colon cancer.

Everyone is still going to die. So might as well eat what you enjoy and enjoy life. Who cares about living to 95 instead of 90? Who the hell wants to spend their latter years in diapers shitting on yourself and living in an old folks home?

Pass the bacon and hotdogs.

i'm certain that we discussed this back in 2007 when it came out. that makes this fear mongering about fear mongering. good job, spidey.
