The PC in my sig used to run great and I started having errors so I wanted to reinstall windows. I didn't activate so thats good. I would sometimes get IRQL_Less_Or_Equal. Then when I try to reinstall it would not transfer files. Maybe my HDD is going bad or has errors. I did check for loose connections. Any help would be great.

Check the HD manuf's site to see if they have a bootable error-checking (utilities) app. It could also, possibly, be a bad stick of ram, so if you have two sticks, try running each one by itself.

Bad RAM will screw Windows up even faster than a bad CPU, so there is no reason to check HD.

Also it gets wierd errors when installing windows. NTLDR is missing as well. I might replace the ram. Is the optical drives to blame for this. It worked well then it would have problems like restarts when i did not want them. Sims2 install got borked so I wanted to reinstall then I would get errors. I wanted to reinstall windows again all these fvcking errors that wont let it install right. I just want an answer so I know what the problem is.

The RAM being bad is no reason for him not to run a check disk on the hard drive.

But, after the RAM is replaced. He will get errors and will not know if it is the drive or the RAM.

Is my mobo defective since it seems to not error on slot 2. maybe I am not checking it long enough. NTLDR is missing. Should I buy a new HDD? I really need to get it fixed asap. Can my optical drives be to blame.

If the RAM has errors, replace it.

If the HDD manufacturer doesn't have a bootable disk checker, then forget that until you get good RAM.

If the RAM works in slot 2 with no errors, then get a replacement mobo, maybe just temporary to see if it's the issue.
