Problems Writing to new SCSI HD while installing windows

I got a New quatum Atlas 10K II and I Fdisked it and a formated properly when I start windows instalation a black box pops up in the left corner and says 'A serious Disk error has occured while wring to drive C" im useing a Tekram 390U2W card. any help?

Run the DOS version of NDD or something equivalent and enable the surface test. The drive sounds like it may be physically damaged.

There's a better chance of it being DOA due to physical defects from manufacturing or shipping than you causing physical damage to it by using it.

Of course, but from ur error msg, it sound like media probs.

Tell us how u have config'ed (components, IDs & terms) & what u see in SCSI BIOS screen.

I have that same controller, and I think Pariah does, too.

I don't have Quantum drives, but Pariah may.

Yes, I have both. That error message does not sound like a configuration error, sounds quite a bit more serious.

Low Level Formating might/most likely make that HD unuseable. It sounds as if: your cable doesn't support LVD or is damaged or the HD has bought the farm. You or someone else doing a low level format could have done the same thing. Go to their website and they shound have some sort of drive fitness test ultility you could download. You might want to give that a shot.
