We just setup the wireless internet in our place. I live with two other roomates. One downstairs, and two upstairs. The one downstairs has the cable modem and the router setup on his mac. I bought a belkin usb network adaptor for mine and the internet is just running real slow with the signal dropping and increasing randomly. It also disconnects and reconnects automatically A LOT which gets very annoying during online games and such. Do you guys think this could be the placement of the router or could it be the fact that my network card is a diffrent brand then the router? any help would be appreciated thanks

The point of origin is the wireless router. What kind is it? The signal strength of such devices can be boosted.

What the stability of the wireless connection on any other PC's in the house?

Any way to temporarily move your rig closer to the router and see if it stabilizes?
