Problems with Westell DSL modem and ASUS mobo!

I've had DSL service with Bellsouth for about 3 years now and have never had any issues. For the past year, I've been gaming online with my Sager 8887 notebook with great speeds and no lag. Well, I just recently put together a new machine and got her all assembled and up and running. I haven't been able to get online via the same Westell modem that I've been using with my notebook.

I've called the Bellsouth tech support and I even had a tech representative come to my house. We swapped out modems and began to troubleshoot. Now, this modem can connect via USB or Ethernet, so we tried both connections (one at a time of course) and came to no avail. We uninstalled drivers and reinstalled over and over again. I made sure onboard lan was enabled and it was from the beginning.

Like I said, I was and am still able to connect to the modem when I switch back to my notebook, so this leads me to believe that the issue is within my new machine. That being said, here's my new system specs.....

ASUS SK8V Deluxe
AMD 64 3400+ w/Zalman fan
Leadtek GeForce 5950 Ultra
3 x 512ddr 3200 Corsair
Turtle Beach, Santa Cruz
500w Enermax psu

I have installed all of the included software/drivers that came with each respective component and the machine runs like a dream with the exception of not being able to access the internet.

I trust that the Bellsouth rep did all that he could, and I do believe that the problem is on my end, so therefore, I come to you guys for help. I have already read about and run into my own troubles with this mobo. Are there any issues with the onboard LAN? Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

Please help!

Well, I can't argue that a router might be a good idea. But, I would like to find out if there is anything wrong that I can fix (without spending more cash).

Sarge, the Westell dual-connect modems can also function as a router and in that mode should handle all the PPPoE gorp for you too. Take the bridge functionality you're currently using, a low-end SOHO router, and splat it into one box. Do a google search for more info.
