So does anyone know if everyone experiencing that exact chart of failures or does it vary? For example will one duron 700 post at certain speeds and another at different speeds or will everyone who has this problem be unable to post a duron 700 at 750? Just curious cause I've got a duron 650 and this mobo and I'm wondering if I should be looking for this.

Jeeezus. You folks finally convince me to scrap the Abit board and go with the MSI, now you say there are some issues? Damn you people! :)

I've had 2x Pro2a's and never had any problems that you've discussed--my opinion is it might be a random problem as Most people who've received this MB are happy with it---good luck!!

CrazyHorse, what problems do you have exactly?

your CPU won't post at various clock multipliers?

Has it occured to anyone that perhaps some of us are "closing the bridges" improperly?

I mean, lets' think about it. Is anyone having problems who HAVEN'T tried closing the bridges?

No problems at all with my MSI Pro2A since I bought it 2 weeks ago. Running any multiplier you want up to 9,5 with my Duron 700. I use the 1.83b bios from the German MSI homepage. Just downloaded the 2.01 bios but not flashed yet. Really great board. 950 Mhz not very stable but its a heat issue. Looking for a better heatsink than my Startech/Maxtron. Must be quiet.

I'd have to agree with RoboTECH on this one. Even the reviewer at Overclocker's doesn't say whether he tried reconnecting the L1 bridges. I know that's the first thing I'd do with those kind of results!

Having said that, I've built 4 different systems with the Pro2A so far, and connected the bridges on the CPU's very carefully with Loctite, and haven't had a single problem with any of them, and they all post and boot properly at every possible multiplier up to the maximums the CPU's will do...

Rather than putting everything on a review where there was problems in which the reviewer himself wonders if the problems were self-inflicted, I'm going to have to reserve judgement until MSI and AMD do some testing of their own. Until then, I'm going to continue happily put this motherboard in every system I build and watch as they continue to not have any problems! /me crosses his fingers, just in case.. :)

Fardringle: Mine was unlocked...I bought it a while ago when before AMD locked the cpus...So it's not the problem.

Dark, I wonder if the problem is specific to cpus prior to week 32, That's when AMD changed the default voltage to 1.6. Maybe some action on the L7 bridges (connect them all) to give 1.85 default and then turn it down in the bios will get some OC results. The really strange deal was the TBIRD remapping 8x to 12x, seems like crossed bridges to me.

Mybe it is time consumers stop jumping into things the moment there is a good review. Wait untill others test the motherboard for free for the manufacturing company. Wait until at least two bios updates and then go for it !
And that holds for Asus, Abit, MSI, Aopen ... etc etc etc

The only times I've had similar problems with mine were when the L1 bridges were not done right the first time. A cleanup and redo fixed it.

I've had my K7T Pro 2-A running a T-Bird 800 @ 950mhz for about a week now with no ill effects. I haven't been able to get it to post past that yet, but it is rock stable and problem free so far. Nothing's perfect, especially complicated electronics. Perhaps he just got a bad one.

Isn't this quite true?

I had a ASUS P3V4X because of review...result? that board doesn't allow proper IRQ assign.

then, I had a ABIT K7T because people also swear by it when it introduce...end up it is so unstable.....

BIAS? aren't we all?

I had similar "issues" when I tried to overclock my T-Bird 900 on the MSI board. I even used loctite to connect the "L1" bridges. I remove the loctite and used some fine sand paper to rough up the bridges. I reapplied the Loctite and everything worked perfectly. Unfortunately, my processor only allows me to hit 1050 :(

RoboTech,

I wish that that was the problem but i've used the pencil trick a couple of times over and over but it just won't work unfortunatly. And with the Asus A7V the trick works every time.

But MSI has a new BIOS version availeble now and i'm gonna try it with that now. I just hopes it works because it's a perfect board.

Rempe: Well, MSI MIGHT recall them back if the bios can't fix it...this is wha he heard from our resellers not only from the site. Learn to read.

DaddyG: The bios won't let me go beyond 1.700V. So I guess mine is prior to week 32.

Ok...I was just about to order this board and slap a ghz T-Bird on it. Are these problems being encountered solely by overclockers or is it something a non-overclocker like me should worry about as well?
