Problems with the IEEE 1394 controller

Hello everyone.
Thanks in advance for any input.
my DFI Lanparty UT250Gb has onboard firewire and driver for it is installed and the item is enabled.
Also I installed a firewire in the pci slot and installed all the dirvers for it and it also is enabled and recognized by windows.
My problem is this. When I connect my Sony digital camcorder to either of this slots , the computer doesn't not recognize the camcorder. I am sure it is suppoosed to be plug and play type of stuff. On my other computer it gets recongnized right away. I am using Ulead Media Studio 6.5 Directors Cut. I have XP professional with sp 2.

are u using the same windows xp and service pack on the other computer? and do u have irq conflicts???

I am using XP pro with sp2 on the other computer but it's a different one. I am not sure what IRQ is so I can't answer that question.
The other thing that comes to my mind that may be the cause of the problem is that I have my hard drive partitioned into 3 sections. One for OS , the other for other programs and the third for everything else. I am pretty sure my chipset drivers are on the OS partition, but I am wondering if that can cuase some sort of problem. I have ULead installed on the non-os partition. Do you think if I get rid of the partitions and put OS and all the other programs in one partition I will be able to solve the problem?

aiyeeeee!!! paritions always causes problems in Windoze. Get a Mac if you want Firewire (the correct term, not IEEE1394 which is so PeeCee like) to work.

Have you tried another 1394 cable? I couldn't get my Canon ZR50MC to work on my Toshiba laptop until I invested in a better quality, gold-plated cable from NXG.
