Ok, sometimes the woman can be fun to hang out with when we all go out to dinner and such, and sometimes she can be very entertaining and interesting to talk to. But the woman has such a grudge with me. For example....for christmas I bought my girlfriend of 13 months a Movado watch that totaled $750 with an extended warranty. So her mother asks me what I got my gf and I told her. Then she goes off and starts b!tching at me about how I shouldnt buy her such things andI should save that money for "our" future together when we get "married." She said buying her something like that wont impress her nor would it impress her mother and father. What she doesnt understand is that Im not trying to impress anyone and I love that girl a whole lot. I want to buy her something nice because I dont think she deserves anything less. I mean, what does the woman want me to do, buy her daughter a DVD? Im spoiling her daughter, whats the problem with that.

You've been with the girl for 13 months and you bought her a $750 watch?

I've been with MYSELF for 20 years and I can't bring myself to spend over $100 on a watch.

eh... she's just saying if you have the money, use it more sensibly. right now she sees you as wasteful and not sensible and secure.

she doesn't "need" a 750.00 watch (btw movado is all show.. and not much else.) if you got her a scorching deal on a slightly lesser brand or just a nice general watch that was say, 100 bucks, she might not have come down so hard on you.

oh, and for the record, getting your g/f of 13 months a $750 is just stupid unless you're a working professional making $85k or more. i have a sneaking suspicion that you are less than 20 yrs old. i spent $1300 on a trip for myself and g/f, and even that was after 6 years. (i'm 22).

Hell, I have been with myself for 37 years, and I honestly believe that 45.00 for a timex is too much.

Wasteful eh? And I know Movado is all show, but most "nice" watches are. I dont see the problem with taking care of my gf and buying her a few nice things once in a while, especially for xmas. Now, I wouldnt buy her something like that randomly, but I like to get nice gifts for people during the holidays.

Im a 21 year old student and I work part time as a waiter. I dont buy myself things like that, but as an xmas present, I dont see an issue with it.

The mother should shut up, but you're still a moron for spending that kind of money on some chick.

Her husband (gf's father) is a huge eagles fan. I got him this plaque with a picture of Veterans Stadium on it and some quick facts about the stadium like it's first game played on it and last, etc. It also has a patch of the actual turf from the field before the stadium was destroyed. It comes with a certificate of authenticiy. Total cost w/shipping: $66. Think she'll blow her top for that?

$750 watch in a relationship a little over a year? I don't blame the mom for thinking the way she does

Oooh...you know what'd be even better? If you knocked your GF up and actually DID give her a grandchild!

Do it!
