I installed the orange box last night and I played portal and TF2 for a couple of hours and everything was great.
I try to play portal today and I get the ole
something is wrong with my local game files message from steam.
i donot know what to do but I cannot play my games and I would like to.If anyone can help I would appreciate it alot thanks guys in advance

I didn;t know if I would mess something up by deleting then reinstalling the games thru steam.I am new to steam so I just wanna be careful.

It'll be fine, click "delete local system content" or something through steam to delete the game, then reinstall. Also try the "verifying game cache"

I had to delete the clientregistry.blob file in the steam directory and re-start steam to fix a similar problem once. I recommend you delete the file while steam is not open just to be safe.

so delete all the games that came on the orange box. After deleting them re install them and see what happens huh?

I am new to steam so I dont have a clue what is going on.Bioshock and lost planet are still working and I have got them thru steam.I just didn't understand how those 2 worked and the orange box didn't.Man it took a long time to install the orange box but if that is what I have to do then I guess so be it,

I would try deleting the clientregistry.blob file first. When steam re-starts it automatically generates a new one, so no harm done.

where is the client registry.blob located at?
I deleted all the games and now i am re installing them. This way if the re install doesn't work then I can try the client registry blob idea of yours.
