Problems with Soyo K7V Dragon Plus

Just got a brand new motherboard, seated in everything properly - and it won't boot up. I've already checked the RAM (256mb Crucial) and it's
put in properly, I've checked two different video cards (AGP - Gainward GeForce2 Ti/500; PCI - Voodoo3 2000), and the CPU (Athlon XP 1600+)
seems seated properly and the heatsink's fan is connected to CPUFAN1. It turns on, beeps once, and then there's one long beep until it just
turns off. I've tried clearing the CMOS to no avail. One really odd thing about it is that turns on as I turn on the power supply switch in the
back. I don't need to even press the front power switch. So can anyone help me?
 
I held down the DEL key, and the CPU fan is spinning - but it fails to boot up. There is one beep and a second or so later there is this long
beep until it just shuts itself down. I thought it was weird how it powers itself up without using the power switch. The initial power-on turns
the computer on without using the power switch, and after it shuts itself down I can use the power switch to turn it back on (only to be faced
with the same automatic shutdown).
 
It sounds like the fan control. I experienced the same problem with mine. Maybe it's not the del key...My manual is in the box which is ready to be shipped out so I can't get to it. Look in there for which key disables the POF or something like that. Maybe someone else knows it. I thought it was del. Maybe that's not the problem...

You sure it's hooked up to CPU Fan 1 and not Chassis 1 or sumpin?
 
can you check your components on another computer? maybe your cpu is blown or your video card? if those work on another computer, then it's probably your mobo.
 
This board requires that you plug your CPU fan into CPUFAN1 on your MB. It has FOC (fan off control) so if the fan were to burn out or get disconnected it will shut off or wont boot. However if no fan is plugged in there, same effect. You can hold down the INSERT to bypass FOC and also diable it in BIOS.

It's FC, not POF 😱

Stands for fan control. P00ter wont start up if the mobo doesn't sense a fan spinning. Hitting the insert key (which I thought was delete) will bypass this "safety feature"
 
OH MY GOD! It worked! I've been so frustrated, and it worked! You people are just incredible! You can't believe how thankfully relieved I am!
MSNY - I'll check out your newbie FAQ/setup guide for the Soyo mobo... I can't tell everyone in here how thankful I am. 😀
The funny thing is that I DO have my CPU plugged into CPUFAN1 and it's sure spinning - but eh... whatever.
 
Just for the heck of it, are you "absolutely", "positively", sure that the fan is plugged into CPUFAN1, and not CPUFAN2, which is right beside it?
 
I have never resolved the FOC shutdown in my Dragon+. I hoped to hear of news of a BIOS revision. I merely solved my problem by finding a 3wire fan that would convince the MB to turn on. I use that fan as a rear chassis fan. I have tried numerous CPU fans and just could not get it to work. It has something to do with the tach sensor in the larger CPU fans not sending the right pulses.

Otherwise I have no complaints.
