Problems with registry.

Hi all,
I have been having problems when I reboot my computer. I get an error saying that Windows is having problems accessing the registry and will shut down and repair it, which it then does. Then all is well.
I have tried reinstalling Windows but it still happens every now and then. Before I resort to reformatting, does anyone have any other suggestions?

there are mem test proggies out there that will run in DOS, but best way to check would be to swap it out with one that you know works.
