Problems with Radeon9700 pro

I have my 9700Pro with a 1.6a(at 1.6) and PC800 rambus on a TH7-II mobo

I had a ti4400, but i got a grand deal on this, so i switched.

However, it has been nothing but trouble. I have installed the drivers from ATIs website, along with the control panel.

in counterstrike, i get roughly 40-50fps.. w!t!f!

anyone have any idea what the problem could be? if its a hardware problem i can get it replaced, but if not let me know if anyone has had a similiar problem with their 9700 pros. and i hate ATIs drivers.

did you try a clean install

never had any problems with my Th7-II and Radeon 8500

nvidia drivers dont like ATI drivers

installed those... no change...

With my TI4400 i had Vsync always on, and AA and ANtisoptric filtering at full in CS, constant 100 FPS.

Now with them on the 9700pro, the quality is no where near as clear, my frames suck, and there are random drops.

If you are using an NT based OS then you might be suffering from the 60Hz refresh rate problem. Try going to www.rage3d.com and download one of the tweaking utilities from their files section. I use Radeonator Locker.

if that was the case then it wouldnt vary so much, it would bhe at a constant 60 ro 72 or somethin.. and its XP

and -32bpp didnt do anything, thanks for all help though.

well i have a Ti4200 that i would gladly trade + cash for your card

well

with a P4 1.6 and PC800 ram, i got a 10432. That isnt bad at all, and CS should be running wazoos, I play many other games, its just the fastest one to load.

1024x768 @ 32bit colot = 10432, with my ti4400 i scored a 10500, so something is definitely wrong, but it still shouldnt be making CS suck.

Check the SmartGart. It gives incorrect settings on some peoples machines. On mine, It disabled AGP and set the fastwrite on. I rolled back to the earlier driver version to fix the problem. Older drivers set the fast write off, and enable AGP to 4X.

CS should be flying on that machine, but remember, at 16bit, no AA or Anis is enabled, only in 32bit. I also find that CS in multiplayer runs like crap in 32bit colour, and OpenGL just runs better at 16bit. Try DirectX if using 32bit screen colour.

Lastly, disable any/all unused services and startup/background running apps in WinXP.
