UUNet? We are in the process of setting up our VPN using UUNet, and we are losing our T1 Internet connection and replacing it with a T1 to our Chicago Headquarters then to the Internet via their connection. This isn't looking good. Hmmm, I've got a modem and an analog line out, are there any good free dial-up ISps left out there that don't block dnet packets? :Q

I get to the internet throught the proxy settings in IE.... ipaddy (or dns name = proxy) on port 80...... The thing is it uses the NDS for the auth fine on that, it's whenever I use a non IE application the NDS auth doesnt get replicated down for some reason (effects Netscape, have to put in Domain\Username in username and my password in the password box whenever I use it) SetiQueue has a settings section for this (user/pass for the proxy) unfortunatly most other things dont! this problem even effects OE! (for the hotmail retrieval, so that should be through http).

What I've decided I need is a proxy server that can sit on my local pc and do the password/username thing for these apps. My thoughts...

Setup my app(OE/PerProxy/Whatever) to proxy to 127.0.0.1 port 8088
Setup my Local proxy server to authenticate to the network proxy using my user/pass
from there should be fine.... I'm gonna look at setting the proxy servers up to have Socks connectivity when I get a chance, but that wont be for a while as we dont get control of them for another 2 months....

Anyone recomend a decent personal proxy that has the authentication options in it for HTTP PROXIES NOT SOCKS PROXIES!

Hope someone has a bright idea as at the moment RC5 is just doin randoms!

Whoooa! There's too much information here that I can't sort things out (excuse my RaySun2Be syndrome). Let's take one thing at a time.

First, let's get your pproxy going. Once we get that out of the way, we'll tackle your dnetc config. It looks kinda weird but let's work on the pproxy first. I believe the encrypted text contains both the user name and password. Try

Other than this, your [KeyServer] section looks in order. If this still does not work, please post your console log. It might help one of us to spot something.

Hey, what dumb question? You should have seen some of mine when I started. How do you think I got my Clueless handle?

If you're running pproxy manually, i.e., not as a service, the DOS window that comes up with all the messages is the console window. Just copy the text from that window and post it here.

The problem with UUNet is it blocks out soooooooo much stuff. I am suprized that I can still get on the forums. But anyways, UUnet is good from what I understand. But getting out on the net SUCKS WANKER!!!
It could also be the security for this company that is making the choice as to what comes in and what goes out. I am not sure.

I have tried that proxy setting. But it's a no go. I have it setup the same as I do for the browsers. I can connect using direct connect threw the browsers. But I still can't connect using the dnet client. I don't know if it's the port or what.

Wolfie - Sounds like you have the same problems as me in general, see if you can get to the web with netscape..... If like me you cant, you have a user/pass lookup, either domain or one of the directory systems (NDS/MAD).... Anooying is it not!

That almost looks like a client on the pproxy host itself, trying to flush through itself (ie., the reference to the 127.0.0.1 standard &quot;localhost' IP)... Is this the case for that client?

OK, that's great news TheApe! Now that we know your pproxy can fetch, it's all downhill from here. Since your pproxy is already inside the firewall, all your dnet clients within the same firewall should be able to connect to the pproxy directly without any special handling. In fact, I recommend you change the pproxy listen port to the default one (2064).

Now if you have DNS inside your firewall to resolve your LAN hosts, I recommend using the pproxy host name. If not then use IP address. Good luck.

Oohhh, a little late, but here goes for the MSProxy Server.

I haven't used this for awhile, but it worked perfectly going through my M$Proxy2 here at home, when no one was logged on to the client machine. Note that the IP of the M$Proxy box is 10.0.0.210, AND that I have 2064 open. I can't use port 80 here, but specifying port 80 in the firewall/host string would be worth a try.

I use a PProxy here now, so that is sooo much easier.
