Steps taken...

1. captured a DV-AVI (25 Mbps) with my Panasonic PVDV400 Digital Camcorder through my firewire card
2. played file in Media Player 8 in Windows XP...worked fine
3. wanted to convert DV-AVI file to DivX file using VirtualDub
4. tried to open file using Virtual Dub...didn't work...got this error:

--------------------------------------
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
--------------------------------------

5. tried to resolve problem by following some advice located here. It said to install DV200_300_17.exe from www.pinnaclesys.com.
6. installed DV200_300_17.exe with a few minor installation errors. Restarted computer. Computer restarted in 800x600 instead of 1024x768.
7. tried to open DV-AVI file in VirtualDub...same error
8. tried to open DV-AVI file in Windows Media Player 8...new error:

---------------------------------------
No error description could be found for this error.
(ErrorCode = 0x800A017F).

Any help? I'm using ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder with Windows XP on an 850Mhz Thunderbird. Thanks.
