Problems with Norton Internet Security 2005

Randomly Norton Internet Security 2005 decided to not allow any traffic out, and all the settings are the same, but whenever something tries to go online, like Steam, AIM, or anything outgoing, it won't let it connect and then it will say "Rules automatically created for program: Norton Netwrok Proxy Service" and I'm not on a network...

Only way I can get things to work online is if I disable the firewall or disable NIS entirely, which defeats the purpose of having it... it's worked fine for months and now this, kind of weird. I checked the clearances/permissions for the programs, and they're all right, so it isn't that...

Anyway, if anyone has any bright ideas for this, I'd love to hear them!

norton is very picky. whenever I want to play games, or transfer data over the network, I just turn off the firewall. Trend Micro is even worse, It wouldn't let me play Half-Life 2 as long as It was INSTALLED (not just turned off). I had to uninstall it and I wasted $30. IMO, you shouldn't buy internet security suites.

Well it's worked perfectly before, everything sent and received easily and all games and network stuff when people DID come over and LAN worked fine, it just started doing this randomly...

Likely an auto update. This is an unrelated problem but I know at work everybodies computer went on a fritz because of auto update for built #8. Ran everybodies CPU to 100%.
