I am building a new PC consisting of a Asus M3A motherboard, AMD 5200+, Asus 8600 GTS, 2x1GB OCZ PC6200, 500 W PSU, and 320 Seagate HD. After installing all the parts i used the VGA to DVI connector to connet my monitor ( which is a TV/monitor). On boot nothing showed up on the screen and no beeps either. I tried removing the ram and booting still no beeps, I did the same thing with the video card with the RAM inside and still no beeps? Is it possble that the motherboard is defected? I checked all connections and even reset the BIOS and still same problem? Any sugestions?

polski,

Could be bad mobo, but could also be bad video card, PSU or RAM. Strip everything off the mobo. Take the mobo out of the case, place it on an anti-static bag or cardboard box . Clean and re-paste the CPU, install the HSF and hook to CPU fan header, put one stick of memory in the first slot, install the video card, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Then hook up PSU to 24 pin mobo power connector, 4/8 pin CPU power, and 4 or 6 pin to video card power. Plug the PSU in and turn the power on and then hit the power switch (or short out its terminals to get a start). Does it start and get a single beep? If not, you have to evaluate each component on the board to see if one of them is bad - change a stick of memory first. If that works, you're in business. If not, you have to check out the video card by borrowing one. Check the PSU with a PSU tester. If they're all good, the mobo is bad, RMA it... If it posts, keep adding components back on the board until you get a failure of some component... Then you can replace and put everything back together in the case.

Good luck,

Noel

try connecting it to a regular PC monitor

You need to rule out your HDTV as the problem first
