I put together a new system for a client using the following components:

AMD Athlon 64 2800+
Biostar Geforce6100 M7 Motherboard
Corsair 1GB ValueRAM (2 x 512MB)
Hitachi 80GB SATA II Hard Drive
NEC 3540A DVD+/-RW
Onboard Video
Onboard Audio
CoolerMaster 350W PSU

Here is the problem. I get everything connected, hooked up and ready to go. The PSU is only 20 Pin and the motherboard has a 24 Pin connector, but I have heard that this should be fine if I am not using a PCI Express video card, so I just hooked it up to the first 20 pins. The system powers on, the CPU fan and system fan power up, the hard drive light comes on, but I get no video, my Hard drive may or may not be spinning up, and my DVD drive will not open.

Could it be the lack of a 24 pin PSU? What could be the problem? Any ideas?

Thanks.

is there another 4 pin on the motherboard. Youll be fine plugging into the 20 pins and not 24 i had a 7800Gt with a 3200 running off that for a bit.

I plugged in the 12v 4 pin and the 20 pin ATX and still nothing. I have also tried using two different 20 pin PSU's to no avail, still get the same problem.

Just tried resetting the CMOS and nothing. Anyone think this could be a motherboard problem?

hell man, go back to the basics of troubleshooting. first, if i were you, i would try each stick of ram individually. make sure the jumper on the dvd drive is in the right spot when you go to load the os. try swapping other parts if necessary to rule out everything before you rma the board. i've also heard a few times that you should try setting everything outside of the case and booting to make sure there are no shorts. hope this helps. i feel your pain.
