Problems with my ti4200, Tv-out and other changes

Every time I go to change my resolution, change from dual head to tv out etc, my computer will let me change one setting, then the next changes it restarts, then i have i restart, change another setting. Basically the computer crashes every other time i change any settings on my video, tried diff drivers, this and that, nothing works, any suggestions? The card is in my Athlon 1800+ running on an MSI KT4 ultra. Im very close to giving up and switching to ATI.

IF I do go ati, I really dont play many games, I will want to play doom3 but thats about it, even if i do it wont be much, but I want good 2d quality, I run dual crts, and use tv-out frequently, so all I need is a low end ati, how is something like the Radeon 9000, 9200, 9500, 9600, I really dont want to spend much money, what would you guys recommend, I've been Nvidia for years so this is a change.

is it only wiht this card?
how long has this been happening for?


personally i wouldn't go with anything lower than a radeon 9700 right now

Well I don't want to spend much if any more than 100, considering, i do almost no gaming, currently I have no games even on this machine, this problem has been going on for about 2-3 months, drivers 42.xx up through..... I formatted, went away for about 2 weeks, and now its back, and its so annoying because, I often use tv-out and its hard to switch around. I am looking at either the Radeon 9500np or the 9600np
